here’s hoping – #WhatImWriting

Tuesday! Time for #WhatImWriting!

snowy view

Snowy view. Just cos.

But… what AM I actually writing at the moment? I’m not sure what’s happened to this year – I started out January with various writing plans but none of them have really materialised. Somehow or other, illness or sluggishness or just general stuff has been tripping me up. As I said last week, I don’t want to beat myself up for this, life just gets in the way of writing goals sometimes, but I am keen to actually start achieving things again.

The writing challenges I’ve done over the past couple of weeks have given me a hint of that feeling I get when I’ve written something, and I really do want to get on with these picture book manuscripts now. Thankfully, things are finally settling down a bit in the Bubble household – the big boys are back at school and my husband is better so this week I have hopes that I might start making progress again.

I’ll need to concentrate though, so I think I’m going to to stay off the blog for the rest of the week *checks this week’s #theprompt… argh, it’s a tempting one!* as blogging seems to eat all my time at the moment. If I really knuckle down to my manuscripts though, who knows how far I’ll get – I’d love to have something to report next week!

Hmm, and that’s pretty much all I have to say for myself this Tuesday. Hope you all had restful half terms and are happily throwing yourselves in the direction of some writing this week.

I know it won’t make you feel any better but I’m having a similar crisis as you’ll see when you read my own post. This week’s prompt is rather poignant don’t you think ;-) Glad to hear that everyone is now on the mend and I hope this week is more productive for you lovely xxx

Life has a habit of getting in the way rather doesn’t it. One minute you feel like you’re flying, the next it’s free fall. l’m gradually learning to go with the flow, slightly…..I do hope you feel more productive this week, sometimes that’s all it takes isn’t it-the sense rather than the reality! xx

You go, knuckle down! I can’t wait to hear what you get up to now that life has cleared up a bit, though it never fully does, which is the *reality* of being a writing mom!

But I totally get the blogging versus non-blogging conundrum. I wonder if blogging is a way to procrastinate – speaking for myself here – and maybe sometimes it is, but it also feeds me in a way solitary writing cannot. There is a time and place for both, however sometimes you have to tip the balance one way in order to make tangible progress.

    Good luck with it!

We just need to get winter out of the way and rid of all those horrible bugs, to literally put a spring in our step and feel the optimism of a new season arriving and with it hopefully some warmer weather. You’ve got your writing hat back on, I can feel it. Things will start to flow again soon.

I’m so with you on the whole blog thing. As I get deeper into this edit I just don’t have the time or head space to write as many posts as I would really like to, let alone all the reading and commenting that goes with linkies! I feel guilty for not joining in with my favourites but I know where my priorities have to lie… Good luck with knuckling down and getting your focus back this week x

Oh hun I’m sorry you’re not getting as much done as you’d like. Stay away from the blog and give your other writing a chance and I’m sure you’ll feel better next week. We’ll all be here as usual, waiting to see how you got on. Good luck. xx

I agree with you, if I get a moment to sit and write I always give priority to my book writing above my blog. I love joining in this linky though because a short, sweet post saying ‘I’m busy writing’ is sometimes enough! Good luck with getting on with it and good to hear everyone’s on the mend now x

I’m glad to see I”m not the only one who was having a tough time being productive. There must be something about these transitional seaons that dampens our productivity (seeing as we are sensitive souls) xx
