What I’m Writing – Week 101

typewriter butterflies badge new

Welcome to week 101 of What I’m Writing! School term here ends this Friday so this is going to be the last link up of 2016 – let’s make it a good one shall we?

There were fabulous posts on the linky last week with Johanne celebrating her first ever Nano win (Go, Jo!), Cara sharing a poem and a fear overcome, and Tara pondering whether she writes like a reader… do you? Meanwhile Reneé shared a post about being a ‘bleeding heart liberal‘ – powerful stuff! For more great posts take a look at last week’s linky!

If you’re new here (welcome!) you might be wondering what #WhatImWriting is all about. You can find all the details here but the short(er) version is I’m a writer who loves blogging about my writing process and reading about those of others. This linky is for all you fellow writers, poets, bloggers etc. out there to share posts about what you’re writing (and all your hopes and fears, triumphs and tears) with a group of people who understand what you’re going through.

I’ve also set up a private group on Facebook that all linkers are welcome to join. It’s somewhere we can share work and have a chat about all things writerly (and whatever else we fancy really). It’s a ‘secret group’ which means you’ll need an invitation to join so once you’ve linked up just let me know if you want me to send an invite.

If you’d like to join in you’re very welcome! There are just a few suggestions for taking part:

  • Link up any post (old or new) that is to do with writing/blogging etc.
  • Please either use my badge on the post (copy and paste the HTML code below) or link to my blog. I will share your post on Twitter in return.
  • Read and comment on as many other posts in the linky as you can. What I’m Writing has developed a lovely, supportive community and we’d love you to join in :)
  • If you’d like to tweet your post feel free to use the hashtag #WhatImWriting. If you tweet me a link to your post @writingbubble then I will RT.

Please link up below – just click on the blue button that says ‘add your link’ and follow the instructions. I look forward to reading your posts. :)

Wishing all my lovely linkers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What I’m Writing – Week one hundred!

typewriter butterflies badge new

Welcome to week one hundred of What I’m Writing! Wow, a whole hundred weeks of fabulous writing posts! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this linky along the way – I’m so happy to have helped create our supportive community.

There were fabulous posts on the linky last week (have a read of them all!) and, with 2016 being the year its been, there was a definite theme amongst them about the positive power of creativity. Kamsin wondered whether stories could help us build a better world, Dana wrote about art helping us to see light when the world is dark, and Sophie had been experiencing the strength of having a ‘tribe’ of writers- and I knew exactly how she felt!

What I’m Writing – Week ninety-nine

typewriter butterflies badge new

Welcome to week ninety-nine of What I’m Writing! I have to admit, I’ve not been putting much (any) energy into promoting the linky recently and have even considered stopping it altogether, but the lovely writing friends who I saw this weekend convinced me not to so, here we are! I really do appreciate those of you who continue to link up when you can and last week’s posts were great – Chilli Regina shared a lovely poem that fitted perfectly with my post on art and healing, Mama Elsie wrote beautifully about the power of poetry and Sophie knocked my socks off with her post about ‘impartiality in our post-truth age‘.

What I’m Writing – week ninety-eight

typewriter butterflies badge new

Welcome to week ninety-eight of What I’m Writing! Thank you to those who linked up last week – it was a very quiet one. I have to admit, I’ve not been putting much (any) energy into promoting the linky recently – there are just too many things in my life (and my head) competing for attention– so I really appreciate those of you who continue to link up when you can. Last week’s post sare all well worth a read – Sara’s poem powerfully and painfully expressed her feelings so well, Sophie summed up her thoughts and feelings about 2016 in a way I could strongly identify with, and Alice’s post was both brave and thoughtful.

What I’m Writing – week ninety-seven

typewriter butterflies badge new

Welcome to week ninety-seven of What I’m Writing! Thank you to those who linked up last week – the mood was mostly sombre as I worried about the US election (pre voting), Reneé discussed ‘the trouble with giving a shit‘, and Teika echoed the thoughts of many with her post-election contemplations. What a week. I’ve spent time in the company of good friends these past few days so my post today has more hope in it but still – 2016 has not been a good one. Onwards though, my friends, onwards.

What I’m Writing – week ninety-six

Welcome to week ninety-six of What I’m Writing! Thank you to everyone who linked up last week – Sophie wrote about the pull of popularity (do we want it, even when we think we don’t?), Mama Elsie talked about rejection (it’s hard but we have to keep going!) and I absolutely loved Jude’s spoken-word poem – beautiful, thought-provoking and inspiring! For more fabulous posts do pop over and have a read of last week’s link up.

What I’m Writing – Week ninety-five

typewriter butterflies badge new

Welcome to week ninety-five of What I’m Writing! Thank you to everyone who linked up last week – it was another great selection of posts. Jo was wondering about being a planner or a pantser (which are you?), Nicola had had a bit of a shock when it seemed her story might have been written by someone else (eek!) and Beth was suffering from bloggers block – I know that feeling! Oh, and I had a little bit of writing news to share! For more fabulous posts do pop over and have a read of last week’s link up.

What I’m Writing – week ninety-four

typewriter butterflies badge new

Welcome to week ninety-four of What I’m Writing! Thank you to everyone who linked up last week – it was another great selection of posts. Alice shared some coping strategies for stress, Suzie questioned whether an educational approach to reading is really the best way forward while Marija explained her reasons for enjoying some blogs and not others.

I don’t usually pick out one post as a favourite, but I’m going to this time. If you – like so many of us – were reeling in the wake of the Trump tapes and the social media response to the Ched Evan’s acquittal, Becky’s powerful post is a must read. For more fabulous posts do pop over and have a read of last week’s link up.

Welcome to week ninety-three of What I’m Writing! Thank you to everyone who linked up last week – I really enjoyed all your posts! Kamsin discussed some of the ways to make money from blogging, Hillie made me very envious with talk of a writer’s shed (while making me giggle over aspects of its construction!) and Cara celebrated some successes and and shared some wonderful tales of rejection too.
